Plaza de Bolívar

As Bogotá’s most significant public square, Plaza de Bolívar is the historic and political heart of the city. Surrounded by neoclassical buildings—including the National Capitol, the Primada Cathedral, and the Palace of Justice—it has witnessed key moments in Colombia’s history, including the triumphant arrival of Simón Bolívar in 1819. Today, it remains a symbolic gathering place and the gateway to exploring the historic centre.
